Monteverde is a Tico village, while Santa Elena is a Quaker community. The diverse communities along with the location in Costa Rica that’s right up near the cloud forests make this a popular choice. Many hikers use one of these villages as their base while they set out and explore the nearby forests.

While the cloud forests are nice, the rainforests are beautiful too. They have wonderful hiking opportunities throughout Central America. You can even find some zip line tours in the jungles.

Located in Guatemala, the Tikal ruins are some of the most impressive Mayan ruins in Central America. The ruins are deep in the jungle and many consider them to be more impressive than some of the other famous Mayan communities, such as Copan.

Divers find Central America to be one of the best locations in the world thanks to all of the great dive spots, including the Bay Islands off the coast of Honduras. There are countless dive spots, including a number of wrecks.

Another attraction in Costa Rica, the Arenal Route is a fun drive that takes you through the jungles to a number of small towns and near some of the mountains. It’s a beautiful drive that boasts a number of great photo opportunities.

Roatan is an island that has a long and interesting history with pirates. More than 5,000 pirates actually made their home on the island hundreds of years ago.
